Scope Innovative process design and processing for advanced structural materials are essential in meeting rapidly increasing industrial requirements to cope with new technologies and to improve the world-wide competitiveness of structural materials. For this purpose, corresponding R&D activities are required to achieve an optimal process design enabling the structural materials getting over limits of respective physical properties and the development of cost-/time-effective multidimensional evaluation/diagnosis systems.

The topics of this symposium cover such activities and include (but not limited to):
• Industrialization of structural materials by applying an innovative hybrid process based on electrical current and charge effects
• Development of multi-functional and light-weight, non-ferrous materials and high-strength and low-density composites
• Predictive modelling of material design and process optimization based on neural networks and thermodynamic calculations
• Multi-dimensional characterizations of mechanical properties and materials microstructures for process pre-designs
