Scope Cast Shop Technology, along with Aluminum Reduction Technology, Aluminum Alloys, Processing and Characterization, Electrode Technology for Aluminum Production, and Alumina and Bauxite collectively form the Light Metals topic area at the TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition. The meeting is an excellent opportunity to interact with experts from the Light Metals industry and academia from all over the world and hear the latest updates on key issues in the industry.

Solidification is the heart of the aluminum alloy cast shop. This one-session symposium provides a venue to discuss new advances in the fundamentals of solidification that related to the casting of wrought aluminum alloys, and improve properties and/or processes. Topics of interest include grain nucleation, in-situ observation, microstructure and defect formation, mushy zone dynamics, and segregation.
