Scope The focus of this symposium is on materials for dental and orthopedic applications, including emerging metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and adhesives. Next generation biomedical materials are expected to revolutionize the future of restorative dentistry and orthopedics. This symposium provides an opportunity for the medical and dental communities to be exposed to new materials and implant technologies. Materials researchers and engineers will be able to learn about the clinical applications of orthopedic/dental materials and the patient needs from medical and dental research community perspectives.
In particular we encourage researchers to submit abstracts within any of the following themes of this symposium:
- Synthesis and characterization of novel biomaterials for prosthodontics and orthopedics
- The interface between orthopedic/dental materials and living cells and tissue
- Corrosion and tribocorrosion behavior of orthopedic/dental materials
- Mechanical behavior of orthopedic/dental materials
- Results of clinical evaluations of new orthopedic/dental materials
