Scope A Grand Challenge was launched in Summer 2015 by AFRL, NIST, NSF-CMMI and Elsevier Materials Today with the goal of demonstrating of how existing, accessible digital materials data available worldwide can be reused to advance materials science and engineering. Those responding to the challenge were asked to show the potential payoffs of data reuse in such areas as the development of new models of materials behavior, discovery of novel material compositions, or innovative processes. During this session, recipients of the Grand Challenge prizes will present their research contributions and the results of their findings.
