Symposium High Strain Rate Behaviors of Composites and Heterogeneous Materials: Experiments, Modeling, and Simulation
Sponsorship MS&T Organization
Organizer(s) Kyu Cho, U.S. Army Research Laboratory
Nikhil Gupta, Polytechnic Institute of New York University
Scope High strain rate behavior of composites and other heterogeneous materials encompass a wide range of phenomena with unique applications in civilian and military sectors. The field of high strain rate behaviors of composites and other heterogeneous materials has gained considerable attention from various scientific and technological communities in recent years. Unfolding, understanding, and prediction of diverse phenomena and mechanisms of composites and other heterogeneous materials in dynamic events have begun to guide the design of unique composite materials for multiple technological applications. This symposium will provide a forum for the composite materials community to publish and discuss the recent advances in the field of experimental research, modeling, and/or simulations relating to high strain rate behaviors of engineered/natural composites and hard/soft heterogeneous materials.
