Scope In recent years there is a global trend toward towards cleaner energy sources and the reduction of CO2 emissions. Even-though a net-zero CO2 emission is the final goal, the transition towards it is not immediate. Efforts are being put in developing higher efficiency power plants, in increasing the share of renewable energies (e.g. marine energy, wind parks, solar power plants etc.), in designing lightweight structures, in hydrogen storage, etc. All these applications represent challenges and opportunities for steel development under more demanding environments.

This symposium will focus on advances, innovations and new strategies concerning steel developments for such applications. The symposium will welcome presentations on themes such as (but not limited to) :
•Steels response to new demanding environments, higher loads and temperatures
•Steels for offshore/onshore renewables applications
•New developments in lightweight steels
•Advances in steels for hydrogen storage
