Meeting MS&T21: Materials Science & Technology
Symposium Cancelled: Additive Manufacturing of Metals: Post Processing
Sponsorship
Organizer(s) Ulf R. Ackelid, Freemelt AB
Ola L. Harrysson, North Carolina State University
Scope It is well known that most additive manufacturing technologies produce near net shape parts only. Various types of post-processing are usually needed to transform an as-built part to a part ready for use.

This symposium covers all aspects of post-processing of metal AM parts. Post-processing includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Powder removal and recovery
- Support removal
- Stress relief treatment
- Heat treatment
- Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP)
- Machining and other subtractive post-processes
- surface finishing (mechanical, chemical and electrochemical)

We welcome contributions discussing equipment and methods for AM post-processing, as well as results obtained with different post-processing technologies.
