| Scope |
The 1st international symposium on thermal processing of minerals, metals and materials will be organized to promote physical and chemical transformations that enable valuable metals recovery and/or the production of pure metals, intermediate compounds, alloys (including steel), or ceramics. Symposium participants from industry and academia will focus on innovative high-temperature technologies including non-traditional heating methods and environmental aspects such as offgas handling and by-product processing. Because of the energy-intensive nature of high-temperature processes, the symposium will address the need for sustainable technologies that reduce energy consumption and pollutant emissions. The symposium also welcomes contributions that relate to the thermodynamics and kinetics of chemical reactions and phase transformations in high-temperature metallurgical processes, refractory materials, and characterization of materials used or produced in high-temperature processing. |
