Scope Micro-alloying is a proven important technology towards developing higher strength steel in numerous product sectors. Microalloying using e.g. niobium, vanadium, etc. is performed in a variety of steels serving a number of applications. The session will review mirco-alloying fundamentals and state-of-the-art knowledge pertaining to precipitation behavior, microstructural characterization, grain refinement, recrystallization delay effects etc. Examples of microalloying in a wide variety of products including but not limited to sheet, plate, forgings, bar, wire, rail will be discussed.
