Abstract Scope Radiation-induced segregation is a mayor concern in materials for current and next generation nuclear applications. Ferritic/martensitic FeCr alloys are main candidates as structural materials for the foreseen harsh nuclear environments. Experimental evidences show that the Cr profiles around defect sinks depend on the irradiation conditions and the structure of the sink. The variance of the Cr content at different locations in the sample may lead to stress corrosion cracking and materials failure. We have developed an atomistic model that accurately reproduces both the right thermodynamics and kinetics of the system and it is suitable to study the effect of defect sinks in the Cr profiles. We have studied the effect of the density of interfaces on the segregation profiles and observed that the amount of segregation decays as the interface distance decreases. These results open the possibility to engineer the material to mitigate the effects of the radiation-induced segregation process.
