| Abstract Scope |
The effects of changes in alloy chemistry on the flex bending fatigue behavior of Al-Gd-Ni-X amorphous aluminum alloy ribbons has been determined. Amorphous ribbons were tested in tension and flex bending fatigue over a range of cyclic strain levels. The effects of additions of Fe and/or Co on the thermal stability were determined via DSC. The tension behavior was determined on hourglass samples polished from the melt-spun ribbons, while flex bending fatigue was conducted over a range of cyclic strains in order to evaluate the fatigue behavior in both the low cycle and high cycle regimes. Fractography was characterized via SEM. The effects of changes in alloy chemistry on the strength, thermal stability, and flex bending fatigue behavior will be presented. |
