Abstract Scope |
The design of new γ/γ’ Co-based superalloys necessitates the development of a Co-based diffusion mobility database focused on the disordered fcc phase for the Co-Al-W-Ni-Cr-Ta-Ti system. The diffusion mobility assessment is based on the newly published Co thermodynamic database by Wang et. al (2017). In addition to available literature data, new experimental and computational diffusion data are combined to construct this multicomponent diffusion mobility description. Analysis of Co-Ta and Co-Cr diffusion couples is used to improve both the binary and multicomponent descriptions. Magnetic contributions to the Co diffusion mobilities are explored. Solute-vacancy contributions to the diffusion are evaluated using first-principle calculations and incorporated into the diffusion mobility descriptions. The preliminary multicomponent diffusion database is then evaluated by comparing with multicomponent diffusion couple experiments. |
