||Microstructure Characterization of P91 and P92 Steels and Weld Metals

Aim of this study is to figure out a relationship between microstructure and hardness of T/P 91 and T/P92 steels and their weld metals which are used to manufacture of nuclear power plants. In this study, microstructure and components of T/P 91 and T/P92 CrMo (W) steels and weld metals were characterized by optical microscopy and SEM and hardness measurement after tempering. Both the base metals and the weld metals of T/P 91 and T/P92 steels were tempered at 760oC for 2, 4, 6 and 8 hrs. Color metallograpy was also employed to display phases such as ferrite, martensite and tempered martensite and some precipitates . The phases and precipitates of the steels and weld metals were identified by XRD. Extraction method was also applied to identify the precipitates in base and weld metal.
