||O-2: Effects of Alloying Elements on Microstructure, Mechanical Properties and Formability of Al-Si-Fe-Cu-Mn Based Alloys for Micro-channel Tube of Heat Exchanger

Demand for more fuel-efficient vehicles and heat exchanger to reduce energy consumption and air pollution is a challenge for the automotive and electronic industry. The Al1000 and 3000 series have generally been used for condenser tubes because of their excellent heat efficient and corrosion resistance. In recent, Al alloys for heat exchanger required in order to improve the corrosion resistance, mechanical properties and formability to meet the challenge of the reduction in thickness of tube. In this study, effects of trace elements in Al-Si-Fe-Cu-Mn-Zn alloy on microstructure, mechanical properties, formability and corrosion were investigated. Alloys were prepared by gravity mold cast process. Al alloys were hot-extruded into a rod with a reduction ratio of 38:1. The microstructure of specimens was examined by OM, XRD, SEM and EBSD. The mechanical properties of the Al alloys were maintained by a tensile test at room temperature and 420℃.
