| Abstract Scope |
In this work it was developed a process to restrict the growth of β-PbF2 crystals to specific regions of a lead oxyfluoroborate glass (B2O3-PbO-PbF2), in order to obtain a peculiar drawing inside the glass bulk. The process of the nucleation and growth of the crystals is electrochemically controlled by using a specific electrical current. For instance, the crystallization may be achieved using a small electric potential (no more than 3,0 V/mm) and temperatures as low as 100 ℃. The really innovative point in this process is the fact that the printing is obtained in temperatures below the normal glass transition temperature of the studied samples, that is of the order of 260 ℃. |
