Abstract Scope |
In recent years there has been a marked growth in the development of re-inforced composite fiber plants, especially in the substitution of synthetic materials such as reinforcement material in composites. Despite the bene-fits associated with the use of natural fibers, there are still some limita-tions to their application. Among the disadvantages associated with natu-ral fibers stands the low thermal resistance. For one point, the hydro-philic nature of lignocellulosic fibers causes absorption of water, but at high temperatures this water is lost, what produce pores and flaws in the composite polymer matrix. The objective of this work is to study the thermal behavior of epoxy composites in the proportions of 15, 30, 40 and 50% (w/w) of fique fabric. The samples were characterized by ther-mal analysis technique. The DSC curves did not show any variation in the enthalpy as a function of the fique fabric fractions. |
