||Thermodynamic Database for Co-Al-W-Ni-Ti-Ta-Cr Based Superalloys

Efforts to establish a reliable multi-component, multi-phase thermodynamic database (CALPHAD) for the design of Co-based superalloys continue to progress in the present work. Several key binaries, such as Al-Co, Al-Ni, Co-Cr has been re-assessed/revised to improve the description of the multi-component system. The models for the intermetallic compounds were reviewed and revisions were made to Al-Ta, Cr-Re, Cr-Ta and Cr-Ti systems to maintain consistency with current TCP phase models. Additional ternaries (Co-Cr-W, Co-Al-Cr etc.) were reviewed and re-assessed as necessary. Calculated results using the current database are compared with experimental data for various multi-component Co-Al-W based alloys. One current focus, which will be discussed, is the maximum Cr amount allowable in multi-component gamma-gamma prime Co alloys.
