||LL-12: Effects of Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of CrMo Steel Contained Nb

Effects of quenching and tempering temperature on mechanical properties of CrMo steel contained Nb were investigated in this paper. Specimens were first austenized at 950 °C and 840°C for 50 minutes and then quenched with air. A fully quenched martensite structure was obtained in all CrMo steel samples. Then, various temperature tempering were applied to the quenched specimens in order to obtain tempered martensite, and tempered sorbite matrix structures. The unnotched charpy impact, tensile and Rockwell hardness specimens were tested at room temperature. Optical Microscope, Scanning electronic microscope were used to investigate the microstructures and fracture surfaces of the impact specimens tested at room temperature. The results indicated that the best hardness and yield strength were obtained for quenching at 840°C, tempering at 200℃. And under the same quenching temperature, hardness and yield strength decreased but impact energy improved with the increase of tempering temperature.
