Different top-surface structures of prebaked anode blocks have been studied with the ANSYS multi-physics coupling simulation software. The top surface structures studied include angular, arc, right angle, wave and other shapes. The influence of the top surface structures on the temperature distribution, current distribution, thermal stress distribution and anode voltage drop was studied. The main purpose is to reduce the anode gross consumption. The results shows that the wave structure is the best in the uniform distribution of the factors, and the lowest in the anode gross consumption as well.
