||W-27: Evaluation of Mechanical Properties of Fe-Gd Alloys by Dynamic-Nano Indentation Method

Fe-Gd binary alloys were inert arc-melted and cast in Y-type mold, which were heat-treated and cold rolled. Rietveld refinement of X-ray spectra of the alloys showed that the Fe-Gd alloys contained various intermetallic phases such as Fe<sub>3</sub>Gd and Fe<sub>5</sub>Gd. Dynamic nano-indentation method was applied to determine nano-hardness of the phases in the Fe-Gd alloys. The fatigue limit and the friction coefficients of each phase of the Fe-Gd alloys were evaluated based on Alekin model. Microstructure observation and phase identification of the wear surfaces of the alloy-sheet will be also presented with crystallographic texture.
