Abstract Scope Degradable stents are becoming state of the art technology. They fulfill their purpose for a defined time with properties according to their application. However, there are challenges for the material itself. They have to be degradable (=controlled corrosion) and their mechanical properties have to allow crimping (=compression) and inflation (tension). Alloying and processing must be tailored in a way that the requested requirements are fulfilled. We will report on the considerations how to design alloying and processing to obtain in the end a degradable coronary stent ready for its application. In comparison to PLLA, Resoloy offers about 3 times higher strength, thinner struts, a higher radial force and is applicable for direct stenting.
