Abstract Scope |
Hydrogels containing poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) and Laponite, can be cross-linked when irradiated by gamma radiation of Co-60 sources. These materials have an impact of great value in health providing conditions for treatment of topical wounds. Association of clay to hydrogels promotes modification of properties such as mechanics and swelling when macro-chains interact with the inter-lamellar space. The goal of this work was to evaluate the influence of a nano-clay on the mechanical, thermal and swelling properties of hydrogels based on a polymer formulation of poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone), poly(ethylene glycol) and agar containing nano-clay laponite RD. The membranes of hydrogel were cross-linked by gamma radiation at 25 kGy. Were performed tensile tests according to ASTM D638-03. The viscoelastic behavior was investigated using a reometer of parallel plate. The swelling was evaluated after 72 hours and enthalpy behavior was evaluated by DSC. |
