| Abstract Scope |
The standard method to determinate the actual content of biodiesel in the Diesel-Biodiesel blend (DBB) uses the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy technique. In this work, the electrical conductivity determined through impedance spectroscopy technique was considered to be a cheaper alternative in this quantification process. The methodology needs to be improved owing to the character of dielectric oils, which have electrical resistivity quite high. Nonetheless it was possible to achieve a correlation function between the composition and electrical conductivity at least up to 10 % v/v of biodiesel in the DBB. By knowing how the values of electrical conductivity/resistivity of the mixtures vary with the amount of biodiesel, we can glimpse the possibility of building a system to make the on-site inspection, considering the use of simple and inexpensive circuits operating in DC current. |
