Abstract Scope With the demand for enhanced quality of life, coupled with increased life-expectancy, there is a greater emphasis on minimally invasive high specificity medical procedures so as to reduce the occurrence of complications and infections. Cancer and epilepsy have increased the demand for such improvements because of their nonspecific nature. The magnetic properties of single domain iron oxide nanoparticles can be used in targeted drug delivery to tumor site, while simultaneously being utilized for imaging the drug’s diffusion path. The nanoparticle used is normally magnetite due to its optimal saturation magnetization and low toxicity. Since such procedures involve exposing the human body to magnetic fields, it is important to understand the impact of the magnitude of the magnetic field on the body and how it compares to the magnetic field exerted by the surroundings.
