| Abstract Scope |
To reduce thin film Cu-In-Ga-Se (CIGS) based photovoltaic solar cells manufacturing costs significantly requires an order of magnitude decrease in processing time for the film α Cu(In,Ga)Se2 absorber material. Composition dependent thermodynamics and diffusion mobilities are needed to efficiently evaluate the most promising processing routes. A revised Cu-In-Se thermodynamic description using an order-disorder description for the δ-sphalerite, α-chalcopyrite, and β defect chalcopyrite phases will be presented. Using this thermodynamic description, the diffusion data for the Cu-In-Se is assessed. The revised thermodynamic and diffusion descriptions are then used to simulate different processing routes to determine the most efficient processing of the α-CuInSe2 absorber material. |
