Abstract Scope |
Texas A&M University in conjunction Texas A&M Galveston had a seawater corrosion site at the Galveston campus boat basin located along the Galveston ship canal. Several publications examined portions of the data collected, but the information collected was never fully summarized. This paper will include all of the data collected. Both uniform corrosion and pitting results will be given.
The alloys included the following materials: G10190, G10160, G41400, G43400, S30400, S31600, S44600, A95086, A96061 and Admiralty Brass. The uniform corrosion and pitting characteristics will be discussed. The Galveston site had a tidal fluctuation of about 30 cm and would be considered more of an estuarine site than open Gulf of Mexico waters. |
