Presentation Title High Thermoelectric Figure-of-merit in n-type Ga-incorporated PbTe

Abstract Scope Lead-telluride and its alloys have been the most well-established mid-temperature thermoelectric materials for decades. Recent efforts have greatly concentrated upon the improvement of zTs for the n-type PbTe. Herein, the Ga-substituted GaxPb1-xTe (x=0~0.3) show n-type semiconducting with the enhanced power factor, while the reduced thermal conductivity can be further realized as the Ga-doped samples remain single-phase. As a result, incorporating the minor amount of Ga in PbTe boost the zTs larger than zT>1.4 (Ga0.06Pb0.94Te) at 673K, which is found to correlate strongly with the solubility range of single-phase PbTe. Meanwhile, the isothermal section of Pb-Te-Ga at 673K is determined experimentally by thermally-equilibrated alloys, with an emphasis upon the homogeneity range of PbTe.
