||OO-43: Recycling System of Waste Home Appliances in Korea

The technologies involving energy-less crushing and higher sorting efficiency have to be developed and tested to employ to the modification of present operation system at centers. The type of crusher and sorter and the line of each unit operation have been developed for increasing the efficiency in recycling through the decision of optimum size of shredded chips and higher separation followed. The crusher using hammer and shredding mill is found to be less energy consumed in crushing. And the eddy current, near infrared ray (NIR), and color sorter are effectively used in classifying into the type of plastics and nonferrous metals. From the test runs, 25% of energy can be saved and the recovery rate is upgraded to higher than 95 %. Finally, the improved sorting process will be demonstrated at the capacity of 3 tons per day.
