Presentation Title Nano-laminated Ti3Al Porous Structure Produced by Hot Forging and Selective Dissolution

Abstract Scope Laminated porous structure can be formed by selectively dissolving γ lamellae from lamellar Ti-Al alloys[1]. In this study, in order to obtain nano-laminated porous structures, we investigated the effects of hot forging on the lamellar spacing and lamellar colony size and their influences on the electrochemical dissolution behavior. Both lamellar colony sizes and lamellar spacings were changed by hot deformation. By deformation at low strain rate, relatively coarse lamellae and non-uniform colonies mostly larger than 30 μm were formed. In contrast, by deformation at high strain rate, homogeneously fine lamellar colonies with an average diameter around 15 μm consisting of lamellae thinner than 100 nm were formed, and nano-laminated porous structures were produced by the selective dissolution of the refined γ lamellae. The difference in the microstructures has significant effects on the selective dissolution behavior and laminated porous formation. [1] Y. Koizumi et al. Acta Mater 2010;58:2876
