Ultra-fine grain Ni coating was prepared on the coarse copper matrix by electrochemical deposition, and Cu-Ni multilayer composites were obtained. The strength and ductility of Cu-Ni multilayer composites were studied by tensile test at room temperature.The thickness of the coatings and the surface morphology of the fractures were observed by means of metallographic microscope and scanning electron microscope. Thus we study the connection between mechanical properties and microstructures. In this lecture, the experimental results show that the hardness of Ni coating reaches 2000MPa, which is significantly higher than that of Cu matrix. With the increase of strain rate, the strength increases a slightly, and the uniform elongation increases obviously by 10%. When the thickness ratio of Cu-Ni is constant, the more layers, the more interfaces, and the strain rate increases, the higher the ductility we will acquire.
