||Effects of High-Sulfur Cokes on Physicochemical Properties of Prebaked Anodes in Aluminium Electrolysis

The influences of cokes with high sulfur content on the physical and chemical properties of prebaked anodes are discussed. The analysis of experimental data indicates that the CO2 reactivity of prebaked anode made with a high-sulfur coke is better than that of prebaked anode made with a low sulfur coke. With regard to the air reactivity, there is no obvious difference between the anodes made from high or low sulfur contents. The trace elements Ca、V and Ni contents in high-sulfur coke anode are lower than that of low-sulfur coke anode, but Na element is a little higher. With the increase of trace elements, the reactivity of anode is increased. Finally, by comparing the conventional physical and chemical properties of prebaked anode with two types of cokes, the electrical resistivity, compression strength and porosity of the anode made from the high-sulfur coke are better than the low-sulfur coke anode.
