||New Aluminum Alloys for High Pressure Casting

It is known that the improvement of mechanical properties of aluminum alloys is achieved using heat treatment, where one of the most common operations is quenching in water. Sometimes the castings after quenching in water have defects in the form of distortion of the surface. Particularly at thin-walled or complex shaped parts local plastic deformations can occur by the uneven thermal stresses. Compositions on the basis of system Al-Fe-Ni and Al-Zn-Mg-Ca was analyzed as the basis for the creation of a new generation of alloys for high pressure casting. The paper shows the conditions to achieve a high level of mechanical properties of casting alloys on the basis of new compositions without the use of quenching in water. New and commercial alloys have been subjected to comparative analysis with respect to the fabrication of casting.
