The microstructures and mechanical responses of a plastically deformed material are dependent on the deformation state. In this work, AA 6061 plates are cold-rolled to produce different reductions in thickness. The evolutions of the microstructures and textures as function of the thickness reduction are studied. No significant change in the texture volume fraction of total deformation is observed for the thickness reduction less than or equal to 30%, and the texture volume fraction of total deformation increases approximately linearly with the increase of the thickness reduction. The indentation hardness of the cold-rolled AA6061 plates increases with the increase of the thickness reduction, representing the presence of strain hardening.
