Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation has been used to investigate the sintering process of iron nanoparticles in direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) process. Nanoparticle morphology, neck growth, and shrinkage of nanoparticle pair during sintering process are calculated. The mechanical properties of nanoparticles sintered at various heating rates are investigated using simulated uniaxial tensile tests. The results show that the mechanical strength of sintered iron is enhanced by high heating rate.
