Abstract Scope Sivanesh Palanivel is a doctoral candidate working with Professor Rajiv Mishra at the University of North Texas. He is a gold medalist from National Institute of Technology-Raipur, India where he received his B.Tech. in Metallurgical Engineering. His PhD is on achieving high strength Mg alloys through thermo-mechanical processing and alloy design using the Calphad approach. His other works include ultrasonic field effects on phase transformations, designing integrated computational tool for friction stir welding, and developing modeling tools for fusion additive manufacturing. Sivanesh has five publications and received multiple awards with the most recent one being the Best poster on light alloys from TMS. In addition to Magnesium based alloys, Sivanesh has worked on Aluminum, Titanium and steel systems. A team player collaborating across disciplines with excellent project management abilities, and writing skills, Sivanesh is looking for opportunities in the industry; preferably R&D. He will be graduating in May 2016.
