In the Fe-C alloy system (carbon steel), it has been considered that the paratactic reaction, in which the austenite phase is produced through a reaction of the ferrite and the liquid phases, occurred during solidification. Recent in-situ X-ray imaging proves that difficulty of the austenite nucleation results in undercooling of the ferrite below the paratactic temperature and the ferrite can massively transform to the austenite in the solid state. In this presentation, the massive-like transformation in Fe-C and Fe-Cr-Ni systems is demonstrated. In addition the mechanism and related phenomena will be discussed.
