| Abstract Scope |
Nanocomposite coatings show dramatic improvements in performance at lower application costs than conventional microstructured coatings. Nanostructured coatings show reduced friction coeffecients by up to 5x compared to conventional thermal spray coatings, along with increased hardness, leading to 3-5X the performance in heavy wear applications, and 80X improvement in sliding wear applications while reducing wear. this presentation will discuss the application, properties, and performance of TiN- and WC-based, ductile-phase toughened nanocomposite thermal spray coatings, for applications in chrome replacement, dimensional restoration, and oil and gas drilling and production applications. These coatings are commercially available under the PComP(TM) brand name. |
