| Abstract Scope |
In this study, the decarburization behavior on Alloy 617 was investigated by aging at various high temperatures. The specimens for a high temperature aging were machined to dimensions of 11 x 9 x5 mm3, and then were polished to a 2000 grit finish. The specimens were aged at 900oC, 950oC, 1000oC, and 1050oC for 480 h in air and He atmospheres. Each specimen of differing aging time was removed after furnace cooling. The specimens for microstructural observation were prepared via chemical etching with HCl (100 ml), C2H5OH (100 ml) and CuCl2 (5 g). The depth of carbide free zone was observed by optical microscope and calculated by image analyzer. The new precipitates were formed in the carbide free zone during aging. The phase analysis of new precipitates was carried out by EPMA and TEM. |
