||O-41: Optimisation of Celestite Leaching by Using Respond Surface Methodology

In this study, solubility of celestite ore is studied in chloride medium. Optimization of celestite leaching efficiency was investigated by using respond surface methodology. In experimental work, barium chloride (BaCl2) is used as chloride agent and sodium chloride (NaCl) and hydro-chloric acid (HCl) are used to increase dissolution efficiency. Experiments were carried out to determine the effects of solid/liquid ratio (1/300-3/300 w/v), temperature (25-65°C), HCl concentration (0-1M) and NaCl concentration (0.5-1.5M). According to the results of AAS analysis of solutions, the best result was obtained at 65°C, 1/300 solid/liquid ratio, 0.5M HCl and 1M NaCl, and the strontium solubility efficiency was calculated as 90.9%. Box Behnken design was used to create experimental design. It has been determined that the calculated strontium solubility efficiency values are compatible with the experimental design model.
