||Influence of Oxygen on Surface Tension of Zr

Thermophysical properties of Zr and Zr-O are being measured using the Materials Science Laboratory – Electromagnetic Levitator (MSL-EML) in the International Space Station in order to study the influence of oxygen on surface tension and viscosity. As part of ground support activities, thermophysical properties of various compositions of Zr-O system were measured using the Electrostatic Levitator at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. Zr-O samples with several difference oxygen concentrations were tested and the oxygen influence on the thermophysical properties were investigated. The results of this study will provide the reference data for the space experiments.
