Presentation Title MC-16: Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum 7000 Series Alloys

Abstract Scope Industrial Experience Materials and Process Engineer at Zodiac Aerospace (1/2011-8/2012). Gained industrial experience by: •Making use of Autocad drawings and Pro Engineering software to write reports on materials used on aircraft seats. Conducted tests for the purpose of supporting our reports. •Worked on updating process specification reports for the company. Made use of company databases to track materials. Education Currently am working on a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering. My dissertation relates to friction stir welding of aluminum 7000 series alloys. Have made use of characterization equipment for the purpose of analyzing the micro-structure and mechanical properties of the welds. Have used hardness testing, tensile testing, calorimeter, and microscopy to analyze the welds. Career Prospect Would like to make use of my skills and educational background in an industrial setting, national lab, or academia. Very interested in working with military or aerospace equipment in my future.
