| Abstract Scope |
This study shows a relation between the behavior of active species of the plasma with the properties of titanium surface. To this end, active species such as N2+ (391.4) and O (842.6) were analyzed by optical emission spectroscopy (OES) in plasma produced by an N2 - Ar - O2 gas mixture. Nitrogen and Argon flow was fixed at 1 and 4 sccm, respectively and oxygen flow ranged between 2 and 4 sccm. It was observed that active species influenced surface properties after thermochemical plasma treatment. The N2+ (391.4 nm) species showed more effective in the nitride phases formation. Roughness was higher when species were more energetic. Hardness was higher at greater N2+ (391.4) concentrations. Surface tension measurements were higher for more energetic plasma. While N2+ (391.4) most influenced the dispersive component, O (842.6) had the greatest influence on the polar component. |
