Abstract Scope Accurate predictions of extended life RPV embrittlement are critical to sustaining C-free nuclear power. A new microstructurally based model has been developed that provides such robust predictions. The model was informed and calibrated by a large UCSB test reactor database, spanning a very wide range of flux, fluence, irradiation temperature and alloy composition. This includes data from the new UCSB ATR-2 irradiation of a large matrix of RPV steels (≈ 150) up to ≈ 1.4x1020 n/cm2. An Avrami precipitation model, with physical argument terms, was derived from the microstructural data, including so-called Mn-Ni-Si late blooming phase precipitates. Flux effects are treated based on a solute vacancy trap recombination model. Precipitate mole fractions and sizes are converted to hardening estimates, which are then converted to transition temperature shifts. The Avrami-based model was slightly refitted to the worldwide surveillance database, and statistically compared to existing regulatory models like EONY and E900.
