Abstract Scope |
Tungsten rods were processed by equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE), to study the effects of plastic deformation on the microstructure and mechanical behavior. Each specially prepared tungsten bar was sealed inside a stainless steel container and extruded at temperatures between 1100-300oC. The number, route and temperature of extrusions were varied to cover a range of conditions thought to improve ductility. Grain size was determined through electron microscopy while 4 point bend, compression and hardness test were used to characterize mechanical behavior. Results will be reported. |
