||MM-7: Impact of Different Deoxidizers on the Total Oxygen Contents and Inclusions Composition of 50Cr5MoV Steel during LF Refining

This study compared the impacts of two deoxidizers in the LF refining process of 50Cr5MoV steel on the total oxygen contents in each process and inclusion compositions in ignots.The results shown that total oxygen contents of refining process were a bit higher when adding Si-Ca-Ba alloys for deoxidization in LF refining process. But the total oxygen content in ignots were all below 10 ppm with the two deoxidizers.The main inclusions in ignots with aluminium deoxidization are Al2O3 inclusions and CaO-Al2O3 inclusions. And main inclusions in ignots with Si-Ca-Ba deoxidization were SiO2-Al2O3-CaO complicated inclusions and SiO2-Al2O3 inclusions. But the yield of Si-Ca-Ba alloys as a deoxidizer could be further improved.
