Abstract Scope |
Due to the rise of the industries in the last few years, an excessive amount of many industrial wastes have been generated and improperly disposed into the environment, one of them being the waste of the laminated and polished soda-lime glass. This research aims to reuse this waste alternately as reinforcement in epoxy matrices in order to produce artificial stones for the market of coatings. The particles were separated into three range of sizes, and the Simplex experimental numerical modeling methodology was used in order to optimize the packing density. The artificial stone plates were produced with dimensions of 100x100x10mm, by using vacuum. The characterization consisted of analyzing the mechanical and staining properties. The results classify the material as having good flexural strength and as being suitable for high traffic coating, which therefore classify the material as having a high potential to be included in the construction industry as coating. |
