**Abstract Scope** |
Cluster Variation Method (CVM) has been recognized as one of the most reliable theoretical methods to incorporate wide range of atomic correlations. The atomic correlation is generally described by a set of correlation functions or cluster probabilities, and they provide information of configurational freedom of an alloy. Recently, we have been attempting to convert other types of internal freedom of an alloy such as magnetic spin alignment and collective atomic displacement leading to a displacive transformation into configurational freedom. The free energy of such a system is, therefore, described within the framework of Cluster Variation Method. In this presentation we discuss CVM applications to various types of phase transformation. |
