||Dendritic Growth Kinetics in Undercooled Melts of Pure Fe under Static Magnetic Fields

Dendritic growth velocities in undercooled melts of pure Fe under static magnetic fields were measured using a high-speed camera. The measurements show a strong dependence of the growth velocities on the magnetic fields. The experimental data are modeled using a recent analytical model of dendritic growth with convection. The physical mechanism underlying the field dependences of the velocities is discussed by reference to numerical simulation of thermoelectric magnetohydrodynamics.
