Abstract Scope Melt-less powder manufacturing has emerged as a key competitor for existing technologies such as additive manufacturing, casting, ingot metallurgy and powder metallurgy. It offers a combination of low-cost manufacturing with enhanced properties and performance that’s particularly well-suited for manufacturing component performs and mill products directly from titanium powder in a single step. When used in conjunction with novel low-cost titanium metal powder production, melt-less powder consolidation becomes a transformational manufacturing technology challenging traditional titanium manufacturing routes.This presentation will describe CSIRO patented melt-less technologies to manufacture continuous pipe, billets, performs, sheet and wire directly from powder. The characterization of the microstructure and mechanical properties produced with different methods will be described, together with the strengths and opportunities in the aerospace, defense and medical industries.
