Samples were produced with the EOSINT M280 machine (EOS GmbH) equipped with an Ytterbium fiber laser operating at 1075 nm wavelength (IPG Photonics Corp.). The chemical composition of powders complies with the ASTM B348 (grade 23) standard for surgical implant applications. The substrate and powder material were similar in chemical composition. Different built orientation of the samples such as vertical, flat, 30, 45 degree is used for manufacturing. Study was done with TEM, SEM and X-ray analysis. It was found that the micro hardness, Young's modulus and microstructure depend on the build orientation of the samples. Level of residual stresses in the samples depends on the build orientation also. Obtained results are compared with the results for cast Ti-6Al-4V alloys after reverse screw extrusion.
